From the Premier Barber Collection. While the mintage of 1,764,681 is well within the normal range of quarters for the era, like so many Barber dates, very few were saved at the time of issue. That any survive in such high end grades is a matter of pure happenstance. The presently offered GEM is a marvel of survival. Boldly lustrous with full, rolling cartwheels that bring the rich blue-slate, teal, and golden-peach hues to a brilliant vivacity. Sharply struck on both sides, with crisp, bold, complete details on Liberty and the eagle. The eye appeal is superb and totally original. PCGS 3, NGC 2. How is this for RARE? In the last 18 years, before this coin's public offering, there has been the opportunity to buy a PCGS MS66 exactly twice in auction, once in 2000 and most recently in November 2017.
