- 1797 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-2. Rarity-3. Plain Edge. EF-40 (PCGS). Deep golden brown with an excellent appearance. The surfaces reveal a touch of microporosity here and there and a faint old scratch to the left of the reverse fraction under low magnification, otherwise the overall appearance is substantial. There is no particular reason to even mention this except to be technical, as the PCGS holder does not, and it certainly is a nice representative of this particular date. Choice for the grade. PCGS# 1036. Provenance: From the Wilmington Collection of Half Cents.
