Lot Description

Semi-prooflike surfaces and golden-russet undertones are seen on each side. Boldly impressed, and free of notable blemishes. This is a very low mintage date with a mere 4,800 examples struck for the channels of commerce. While some were saved from this issue, there are certainly not many around today at the Choice level. Many collectors assemble this challenging series by purchasing one of each of the Philadelphia issues from 1879 through 1891 when the Liberty Seated half dollar designed ended. There are many challenging Liberty Seated half dollar issues in this period, but they are obtainable with patience and make for an incredible display of rarities that few can top with complete sets (as an example) of 20th Century series of coins. A group of these half dollars will certainly turn heads and be an enjoyable undertaking.
