Lot Description

"1783" (Circa 1820) Washington Military Bust Copper. Baker-4B, W-10150. Rarity-3. Small Military Bust. Engrailed Edge. AU-58+ (PCGS). 115.74 grains. Deep golden-brown surfaces exhibit a hint of soft mint orange among the obverse design elements and a flash here and there of royal blue iridescence, especially in a bold light source. Struck from a shattered obverse die, the latest state seen thus far by the writer (FVV), with moderately heavy cracks throughout the legend and bust of Washington. Choice for the grade with no obvious marks present to the unassisted eye.
