1853 C-1 R1 NGC graded MS66 Brown with Star Designation, CAC Approved.Highly lustrous bluish steel and light olive brown with about 15% of the slightly mellowed mint color remaining, mostly on the reverse. No spots or stains, and the only contact mark is a very light and barely visible tick on the coronet over the right edge of the B in LIBERTY. The strike is decent but there is some weakness in the hair details in the curl at the shoulder due to a die clog and there is a shallow low spot under the left side of the U in UNITED (both a result of debris on the die). LDS, Manley state 2.0 late. The die line through the first T in STATES is gone and the field behind the portrait is slightly wavy. Our grade is MS65. NGC population 4; 4 finer, 1 in 66+, 3 in 67. Estimate Value $1,000 - UP
