Lot Description

Nicholas Jackson Collection. Overton-101, "1819/9 small 9". Not only was "9" repunched over the prior eight, but the first eight also displays blatant repunching that is visible on early strikes such as this. Smoke-grey patina more or less evenly layers the surface completely, yet still permits solid mint luster to shimmer through. As expected of a choice half-dollar, there are absolutely no mentionable marks nor does cabinet friction play a role in grade. Just a few delicate, squiggly nicks might determine the grade.
