Lot Description

1869 Pattern Half Dollar. Judd-753, Pollock-836. Rarity-7+. Aluminum. Plain Edge. Proof-65 (PCGS). Obverse is the Standard Silver bust of Liberty facing right, no stars or ribbon on tiara. Legends and Motto surround. Reverse with an open oak and laurel wreath within which is 50 / CENTS and around is STANDARD SILVER and date 1869 below. Bright white with no signs of toning to be found, and the mirror fields well preserved along with the frost on the devices. A high fin or wire edge is present on the obverse. One of the two finest seen by PCGS and a rare issue indeed. PCGS# 60982. PCGS Population: 2; none finer in any designation.
