1866-S Liberty Half Eagle. No Motto. VF-35 (PCGS). Deep honey-gold with warm orange toning highlights and no serious marks that present themselves to the unaided eye. One of just 9,000 examples struck in San Francisco before IN GOD WE TRUST was added to the reverse die. Of the certified examples of the date seen thus far by PCGS, just 15 pieces have been certified finer than the present piece, none of those in Mint State!
