Lot Description
FROM THE SEATTLE COLLECTION Another really cool Shield nickel pattern, featuring the ball that divides the date on the shield and a short 5 in an olive or laurel wreath on the reverse. Struck in copper with a plain edge, J-495 is rated R-7+, with 4-6 known in all grades. This lovely, mahogany brown with red clay hues that are just a real pleasure to look at. The surfaces show a wonderful reflection, particularly on the reverse, where there are tinges of gold and blue that add to the exceptional eye appeal. PCGS 2, NGC 0, CAC 2. This coin realzied $7,475 in July 2009. Prior to that, it sold in Superior's October 1992 auction for $6,875. The current Collectors Universe value is $8,000 and we think it should bring somewhere close to that today. Good luck! Cert. Number 6695865 PCGS # 60691.00
