Losbeschreibung
1874-S Seated Liberty Half Dollar. Arrows. WB-103. Minute S. MS-64 (PCGS). Minute S. In 1873 and 1874, the Philadelphia Mint produced more than five million half dollars with Arrows at Date. The branch mints were not as prolific, and only 622,000 pieces of both dates were struck at San Francisco. Almost 400,000 of those were 1874-S half dollars, the more available of the two S-mint issues. Since no one collected by mintmark in 1874, and few people collected on the west coast, Mint State survivors are scarce, especially with clean surfaces. This one is not quite fully struck, but the strike is above average, and both sides are toned in smoky-gold and gray hues. The reverse is much lighter with some semi-prooflike reflectivity.
