1867 Liberty Quarter Eagle. AU-53 (NGC). 1905 Liberty Quarter Eagle. MS-64 (PCGS). OGH--First Generation. Scarce to rare in all grades, the 1867 is one in a line up of Reconstruction era quarter eagles from the Philadelphia Mint with low mintages and poor rates of survival. The present example comes down to us from a delivery of just 3,200 business strikes, and with light wear to sharply defined features, it is especially important given the awesome rarity of this date in Mint State. Even rose-gold color to both sides, with considerable scuffiness, yet no individually distracting abrasions.
