Lot Description

1869 Shield Nickel. Proof-66 Cameo (NGC). Brilliant white surfaces are untoned save for the lightest silvery tinting in the center of the reverse (it is not readily evident at all angles). Bold cameo contrast is easily seen, and there are no blemishes to either inhibit the technical quality or distract the eye. Exceptionally nice in a survivor of this early date proof issue in the Shield nickel series.
