Lot Description

Undated (ca. 1652-1674) St. Patrick Halfpenny. Martin 5-D, W-11540. Rarity-5. Small Letters. VG-8 (PCGS). 146.2 grains. An excellent example with glossy light chocolate-brown surfaces and full well balanced detail. A few light scratches on and around the harp are the only minor marks. Very conservatively graded, this piece was called VF-20 when sold raw in our March 2003 sale and that grade certainly seems to be more reasonable. Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection.
