1854 Round 50 Cents. BG-431. Rarity-5-. Liberty Head. MS-64 (PCGS). Delightful satin surfaces are sharply struck and display soft pale gold color. Scarce as a die pairing, BG-430 is even more so as a type since it represents the only use of the popular "Empty Wreath" reverse in the California small denomination gold series. This is one of the finest graded by PCGS, a full two points finer than the Jay Roe specimen/Breen-Gillio second edition plate coin. BG Die State II. Provenance: From the Oregon Collection.
