Lot Description

A lustrous mid-range AU, that displays a bold eye appeal. Sharply struck at the periphery, while displaying the typical weakness at the obverse center. A bold satin mint frost shines on both sides, framing the devices, and amplifying the eye appeal imparted by the soft pewter gold patina. PCGS 55, NGC 40 (for the date). This is the only 53 of the O-109a graded by PCGS. A wide range of APRs exist for the grade, mostly in the $3,000-$4,500 range. The current PCGS price for both the date and variety in this grade is $4,900. This coin also serves as the PCGS CoinFacts plate.
