Lot Description

A visually alluring near-GEM example of this scarce Civil War Proof dime, one of only 460 produced. The mirrors have a brilliant, watery reflection which contrasts nicely with the frosted, well struck devices. Framed on both sides with a hint of peripheral toning. We note some minor lines and a few ticks, which are only visible with a strong glass. The eye appeal is pleasing. PCGS 13, NGC 6. Only 460 Proofs were struck. The most recent example was CAC approved selling for $1,050 in January 2021 and that was the first sold in nearly seven years. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $850, clearly that number is too low. Cert. Number 41890889 PCGS # 84756.00
