Ex Simpson Collection, as noted on the insert. A simply stunning SUPERB GEM Proof 1899 Indian Head cent. Blazing red mirrors are framed with an iridescent toned frame at the obverse periphery and a wonderful overtone of violet blue, which might account for the "B" in the RB designation. The flawless surfaces radiate with stunning reflection and a this coin has a sensation eye appeal. PCGS 11, NGC 7, CAC 7. This coin sold in April 2021 for a record $4,800. There is a single MS67+ RB graded higher in the designation, a coin that has yet to appear in auction.
