- 1783 Nova Constellatio Copper. Crosby 1-A, W-1860. CONSTELLATIO, Pointed Rays, Large U.S. AU-55 (PCGS). 115.8 grains. The moderately glossy surfaces are medium golden-brown throughout and contact marks are at an absolute minimum, even under low magnification. Some light and entirely natural roughness, as struck, engages the obverse design at the viewer's right, but a loupe is needed to disclose the flaws. Obverse rim tight to the tops of JUSTI, while the reverse peripheral devices are showing the normally seen stress and faintness of strike owing to the late state of the reverse die. The present piece is among the <strong><em>finest certified</em></strong> examples of the variety at PCGS. Truly choice and well met in the eye appeal category.
