FROM THE STAR CITY CAC MORGAN COLLECTION. Ex Wurt I Collection. One of the FINEST examples of this RARE Top 100 variety, that is mostly seen in lower grades. It is particularly rare in AU and finer grades, with just a few finer. This variety was created when a mint employee mistakenly used an S punch for a quarter. Light friction is seen on both sides. Very pleasing light gray color and accents of pale gold toning that are accented by strong traces of mint luster. PCGS 7, NGC 4, CAC 3. The last one to sell realized $8,225 in the 2015 ANA auction. The current PCGS value is listed at $10,000. Only 12 coins are graded finer, this CHOICE AU piece is worthy of a world class collection of Morgan dollar varieties. Good luck! Cert.
