Lot Description

1825 Capped Bust Dime. JR-4. Rarity-2. MS-63 (PCGS). A later state of the variety, the obverse exhibits a spindly die crack (as made) connecting the outer points of stars 3-7 as well as a sharper crack (also as struck) connecting to outer points of stars 8-13. Boldly defined despite a bit of softness to the reverse eagle, both sides are beautifully toned in pastel-pink, orange-gold, sea-green and golden-apricot iridescence. Satin-to-semi-prooflike in finish, with no mentionable abrasions save for a few short scrapes near the 7 o'clock position on the obverse border.
