Lot Description
1950 Jefferson Nickel. Proof-67 Deep Cameo (PCGS). Interrupted by the Second World War, Proof nickel production resumed in 1950 with a mintage of 51,386 pieces. The scarcest Proof in the modern Jefferson series, the 1950 was not handled with the greatest care by Mint personnel and is a major rarity with the quality and eye appeal offered here. Lightly toned in iridescent reddish-gold, a blush of lilac-blue over the left third of the obverse provides further appeal. Outstanding! Provenance: From the George "Buddy" Byers Buckeye Collection. Earlier ex Heritage's FUN Signature Sale of January 2010, lot 608; Heritage's sale of the Elite Cameo Collection, April 2013 CSNS Signature Auction, lot 1601. PCGS Population: 9; 2 finer in this category (Proof-68 Deep Cameo finest). PCGS# 94182. NGC ID: 27A5. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
