A bold and beautiful GEM PR example of this scarce Civil War year, and represents one of the finest examples of the date certified by PCGS. Deeply mirrored reflective fields contrast nicely with the devices. A dappled iridescent toning compliments the design and is quite attractive. The surfaces are clean and free of any distracting lines. Only 550 were struck. PCGS 3, NGC 2, CAC 4. This coin last sold for $10,575 in our Regency 13 Sale (September 2015). Before that it brought $14,100 in June 2014. Only two are graded finer, the finest is in the LEGEND Collection, the all time #1 PCGS Set of 3CS in Proof.
