- Lot Description
- A gorgeous cent, predominantly orange-brown in color yet with deeper olive-brown patina also evident on both sides. The surfaces are smooth, hard, and have some cartwheel luster effects still remaining. The strike is somewhat soft, some of it attributed to the late die state, but the overall design is well rendered and many features are sharp. Both sides are free of all but a few trivial marks, including a small diagonal nick on Liberty's throat that serves as a particularly useful identifier for provenance purposes. Although not specifically mentioned in the 2000 Bland census, this coin should be, in which it would fit nicely with an EAC grade of AU-58.
