- 1827 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-117. Rarity-3. MS-63 (PCGS).
Partial crescents of iridescent peripheral toning frame otherwise sandy-silver surfaces. More vivid undertones flash into view at direct lighting angles, which also allow more ready appreciation of satiny mint luster. Otherwise a candidate for at least an MS-64 grade, a few light marks on Liberty's cheek are noted. A Condition Census 1827 O-117 half dollar per the listing in Stephen J. Herrman's AMBPR for the series, Autumn 2020 revision.
Provenance: From Heritage's FUN Signature Coin Auction of January 2011, lot 3713.
