Description du lot
1854-C Liberty Quarter Eagle. MS-61 (PCGS). This Charlotte Mint coin shows a better than average strike as the curls and thigh have more definition than usually encountered. Still a bit soft on LIBERTY and the shield, as expected for the issue. A single pair of dies was used, and most examples have a fine die crack from the rim to the reverse fraction bar. The surfaces are deep reddish-gold and lustrous, with no signs of copper toning or spotting whatsoever. The stars are nearly full and the date punch was crisp and even. From a mintage of 7,295 pieces, this is apparently one of the top few to survive. Rarely found in Mint condition. PCGS# 7770. PCGS Population: 2 in 61; 3 finer (all MS-62).
