Lot Description

1860-O Seated Liberty Half Dollar. MS-66 (NGC). Incredible quality for this date, and tied with a select group of coins as the finest seen by either grading service. The fields are slightly reflective, while the devices show considerable mint frost, with bright white surfaces framed in a bit of light blue and gray at the rims the only signs of toning. Exceptional quality as the fields and devices are virtually free of contact marks. Slightly repunched on the upper inside of the O mintmark. Considering the events that transpired in 1861 in the New Orleans area, it is indeed amazing that the present coin survived in such a pristine state.
