- FROM THE SAND HILL COLLECTION. Usually taking a backseat to its San Francisco counterpart, the 01-O quarter is a conditionally RARE date, indeed, PCGS has graded fewer in GEM and finer grades for the 1901-O than the 1901-S. This borderline GEM is very attractive and has a great, original look. Boldly lustrous surfaces amplify the gentile dappling of tone on both sides. Sharply struck up, the details show a bold definition throughout. The surfaces show only a few microscopic ticks and marks, but the eye appeal is very high end for the grade. PCGS 14, NGC 5, CAC 5. The last one to sell realized $3,819 in October 2014, and prior to that, one sold in October 2012 for $4,700. The current Collector's Universe value is listed at $3,750 and the value nearly doubles to $7,250 in MS65. This is a very CHOICE example for the collector of Barber quarters. Cert. Number 30136372 PCGS # 5629
