1786 New Jersey Copper. Maris 14-J, W-4810. Rarity-1. Straight Plow Beam, Stegosaurus Head. AU-50 BN (NGC). Lovely rose-brown surfaces are overall smooth in hand with a boldly executed and well centered strike. A few dull marks in the right obverse field and over the lower right portion of the shield are easily forgiven given the superior quality of this piece. Popular for type purposes, Maris 14-J is one of the most readily obtainable die marriages among New Jersey coppers, and it also features one of the best produced obverse dies in this series.
