Lot Description

This eagerly sought issue boasts a limited mintage by Morgan dollar standards that came in at just 750,000 coins. Only a few hundred prooflike examples were included in the famous Redfield Hoard, most of which were confined to lower Mint State grades. In premium MS-64+ PL with CAC approval, as here, the 1886-S is rare. And this is a lovely example - sharply struck with frosty motifs set against a backdrop of watery reflectivity in the fields. Bright and brilliant.
