Lot Description

A marvelous CHOICE Mint State early Liberty Head five. A strong mint brilliance billows boldly on both sides radiating with a strong cartwheel luster. Sharply struck devices stand out against the generally smooth surfaces. The obverse shows some interesting die cracks from extensive use. While over half a million half eagles were struck, this date is incredibly RARE finer than the MS63+ offered here. PCGS 2, NGC 0. The most recent example sold in October 2022 for $6,500 and the current Collectors Universe value is listed at $8,500. The PCGS Price Guide value jumps to $15,000 in MS64.
