Lot Description
1837 Modified Matron Head Cent. N-5. Rarity-2. Plain Cords, Small Letters. MS-64 BN (PCGS). CAC. Golden tan highlights accent the rich chocolate-brown color that paints this lovely Small Letters cent. Minor laminations in the planchet are noted at star 4 and Liberty's hair bun, thought the surfaces are otherwise smooth and without post-Mint abrasions. The obverse was earlier used in the N-4 pairing and the crack that formed in striking that variety is stronger now equivalent to Noyes Die State D/C. Provenance: From the Paradise Collection. Earlier ex Heritage's sale of March 2018, lot 3354. PCGS Population: 16; 9 finer. PCGS# 1732. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
