- 1863 Pattern Washington Two-Cent Piece. Judd-305, Pollock-370. Rarity-4. Proof-63 RB (PCGS). A popular pattern type, the obverse exhibits a right-facing bust of George Washington with the motto GOD AND OUR COUNTRY above and the date 1863 below. The reverse design features a wreath of wheat around the denomination 2 CENTS, the word CENTS markedly curved. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is around the border. Struck in copper or bronze with a plain edge.<br /> Both sides are near-fully lustrous with dominant medium-orange color. We note only light olive-brown iridescence in isolated areas, as well as a few carbon spots that preclude a higher grade.
