1843-D Liberty Half Eagle. MS-61 (NGC). Classic orange-gold hues and partially reflective fields as struck by the dies. The surfaces have moderate bagmarks from handling under close scrutiny with an identifying nick located out of the way in the field near the eleventh star. Bold on Liberty's curls and the eagle's talons, areas that can be poorly impressed on this issue. There are small die dots seen between the first two stars (raised, sunk into the die) and another at the top right of the 3, perhaps die rust on the obverse, seen on other examples of this issue. Rare in any mint state grade and impressive quality for the date specialist.
