1895-S Barber Half Dollar. MS-62 (PCGS). CAC. Brilliant silver surfaces are modestly semi-prooflike on the obverse, more uniformly satiny in finish on the reverse. Both sides are sharply struck with an impressively smooth appearance relative to the assigned grade. The 1895-S is among the more elusive Barber half dollars in Mint State and, in keeping with the history of the series as a whole, it is probable that most of the 1,108,086-piece mintage entered circulation shortly after striking. This beautiful and desirable survivor from the Abigail cabinet would serve with distinction in an advanced collection. Provenance: From the Abigail Collection, Part III.
