1831 Matron Head Cent. N-6. Rarity-1. Noyes Die State B/B. Large Letters. MS-65 RB (PCGS). CAC. <strong>Die Variety: </strong>Newcomb-6 is one of 14 varieties of the date.&nbsp;Large Letters.<strong>&nbsp;</strong>The same obverse saw use at Newcomb-7 and Newcomb-8; the reverse was used on Newcomb-9 and Newcomb-12.<br /> <br /> <strong>Die State:</strong>&nbsp;Signs of some light die rust seen&nbsp;in places on both sides.<br /> <br /> <strong>Strike: </strong>Strong throughout with just a hint of weakness at a few obverse stars.<br /> <br /> <strong>Surfaces:</strong>&nbsp;Highly lustrous with a pleasing blend of&nbsp;frosty mint orange and golden-tan on the obverse, the reverse is nearly fully brilliant. The surfaces are essentially pristine with&nbsp;but a tiny mark in the obverse field near Liberty's forecurl&nbsp;and a few tiny flecks that come to light under low magnification.<br /> <br /> <strong>Census Rankings: </strong>Tied for first in the Noyes Census; finest known in the Bland Census; the Noyes, Bland, and McCawley-Grellman Censuses all grade this&nbsp;coin MS-65.<br /> <strong>&nbsp;</strong><br /> <strong> Pedigree: </strong>Kevin Lipton; Jerry A.
