Lot Description

1882 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. WB-102. Proof-64 Cameo (PCGS). Scarce as a Proof issue with a mintage of 1,140 pieces, this one of the earlier strikes when the dies were still fresh from polishing as the desirable Cameo contrast is evident. Furthermore the surfaces are Choice, with minimal signs of handling. Light silver-gray with a pale golden blush on both sides. Minimal hairlines come and go when tilted under a light, as expected on these delicate Proof fields. This Proof obverse shows the tops of both 8s in the dentils below when closely examined.
