Lot Description
1833 Matron Head Cent. N-3. Rarity-1. MS-64 BN (PCGS). Intense cartwheel luster swirls around each side of this gleaming mint state large cent. Striking patina of deep olive-brown and steel-blue along with some highlights of mint red on the reverse. A solitary hairline near the dentils at the upper reverse is the only mark to note and there are no other mentionable flaws. A later die state of this variety, the flowlined surfaces weaken the peripheral detail somewhat but also contribute to the booming luster. An impressive example of the date or variety, suitable for a high quality cabinet. Provenance: Ex Raymond Gallo; Abe Kosoff's October 1961 sale, lot 668; Kagin's October 1983, lot 1123. PCGS# 37024. NGC ID: 225P. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
