A very rare offering from the stunning Platinum Star Collection, this lot offers a Cameo-designated survivor of the proof 1866 Two-Cent piece. Such examples are seldom encountered in the numismatic market, and this lot obviously represents a fleeting bidding opportunity for the advanced Registry Set collector. A beautiful coin in all regards, otherwise rose-red surfaces reveal a blush of golden-orange color at the right-obverse border. Field-to-device contrast is easily seen as the surfaces rotate under a light, there being neither toning nor grade-limiting blemishes to distract the eye. Tied for Condition Census #1!
