Seldom do Mint State examples of this challenging Roaring Twenties Buffalo nickel possess the bold striking detail and premium Gem-quality surfaces offered here. Most design elements are sharply rendered, in fact, and we even note emerging to bold detail for the high points. Both sides feature strong mint luster, enhanced by pretty iridescent toning in powder blue and champagne-gold.<p>Although not as rare as the 1920-D in circulated grades, the 1920-S is a leading condition rarity in the early Buffalo nickel series. Even low end Mint State coins with poor striking detail can be elusive in today's market. In uncommonly sharp Gem Mint State, the present example is exceedingly rare indeed and worthy of strong bids.
