1856-N Octagonal 50 Cents. BG-916. Rarity-6. AU-53 (PCGS). OGH. Copper gold toning over both sides, and appealing despite minor evidence of circulation. This variety was struck by Robert B. Gray & Co., from 1858 to 1871, a successor to Nouizillet, with the initial N at the base of the reverse. Despite the reverse die being worn, examples continued to be struck and retain the handsome mirror surface in their fields.
