Lot Description
1926-D Buffalo Nickel. MS-65 (PCGS). Lustrous satin surfaces are attractively toned in warm autumn-gray, direct lighting calling forth iridescent undertones of reddish-apricot and, on the reverse only, powder blue. Well struck with universally bold to sharp detail, smooth-looking surfaces are also a praiseworthy attribute for this handsome piece. While Mint State survivors of this 5,638,000-piece Denver Mint issue are not particularly scarce by Buffalo nickel standards, most are confined to low grades due to having been coined from worn dies. Although not quite as rare as the 1925-D, the 1926-D is one of the most difficult Buffalo nickels to locate in sharply struck Gem Mint State. The coin offered here is memorable -- an uncommonly well struck, expertly preserved example that belongs in an advanced collection. Provenance: From the Silver Springs Collection. PCGS# 3958. NGC ID: 22S6. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
