- Strongberg Consignment. As a time capsule, it might not be possible to better represent a non-Carson City dollar than with the presence of this 1883-O, a date far scarcer than almost any CC GSA dollar. A vivid crescent of tone in the shape of a tapering scepter occupies the obverse right and lower rims, and incorporates peridot, ebony-blue, crimson-gold and navy-grey. But the reverse is where the truly wonderful preservation becomes most apparent as these same hues blaze over the upper three-quarters of that side, draping down to rose-golden hues in the lower area. Modest sliding friction on the cheek from coin-to-coin contact represents the major grade-determinant.
