Lot Description
1795 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar. BB-21, B-1. Rarity-2. Two Leaves. VF-35 (NGC). A richly original example, the obverse exhibits dominant dove gray patina with lighter pewter gray high points. The reverse is evenly and more boldly patinated in charcoal gray. Smooth in hand with a well executed strike, both sides retain plenty of bold striking detail to the more protected areas of the design. Trailing only BB-27, BB-21 is the second most readily obtainable die marriage of the 1795 Flowing Hair dollar, and the most plentiful of the Two Leaves Guide Bookvariety. A handsome Choice VF with undeniable originality and nicely preserved surfaces, an impressive provenance further enhances the appeal of this mid-grade type candidate. Provenance: From Doyle New York's sale of the Samuel Mills Damon Collection, March 2006. PCGS# 6853. NGC ID: 24WZ. Click here for certification details from NGC.
