- Sheffield Collection. Mintage: 3322. 15 graded XF-45 at NGC, 18 higher at NGC. A classic example of the grade (albeit the 1877-CC is downright very rare at or above the present grade level), the obverse shows some bluntness of strike that places limited delineation within the hair while the reverse seems notably sharper, as most of the segments with in the talons still feature separation between each other. Even the feathers on the neck are almost fully outlined, and all this in the face of fifteen points of circulation! Reddish highlights within the protected areas identify hints of frosty luster but some curious waxy residue has been worked into isolated portions of the reverse, notably at "AM".
