- Description du lot
- Heck DS7, Breen Die State V. Handsome chestnut-brown surfaces are warmly toned overall. Both sides show a few scattered marks, all trivial, and none individually distracting during in-hand viewing. The strike is ideally centered and has delivered sharp detail that is fully appreciable in the absence of all but light wear. The 2000 reference Walter Breen's Encyclopedia of Early United States Cents: 1793-1814 asserts that 1794 cents of this die pairing were delivered May 9 through June 4 of that year. The Bland census included therein features coins with EAC grades of EF45 through MS60, all but one in EF or AU. With an EAC grade of EF45, net VF35, the Widmer Family specimen ranks within the top three dozen or so known for the Sheldon-44 dies.
