THE GEORGE SCHWENK COLLECTION An important early date that rarely comes in high grade or with a full head. All GEM examples are RARE, premium Gem coins like this one are especially so. Well struck in the central devices, but lacking in the head and shield, this coin is drenched in a full, satiny mint brilliance that gleams boldly on both sides. Untoned, this 19-D is as brilliant and fresh as it was when it fell from the dies. The eye appeal is very pleasing! PCGS 34, NGC 18. The market has certainly changed since this coin last sold in March 2016; what MS66s were selling for back then, is now what MS65s are bringing. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $8,500. While there are seven graded higher at PCGS, none of these have sold in auction. This is a coin worthy of a great set. Good luck. Cert.
