Losbeschreibung
1912 Barber Half Dollar. MS-66 (PCGS). CAC. This wonderfully original upper end Gem will appeal to discerning type collectors as well as advanced Barber half dollar enthusiasts. Both sides exhibit mottled reddish-russet and antique copper iridescence nestled in the more protected field areas, the colors more extensive on the reverse. The strike is razor sharp to full, the surfaces dressed in smooth, satiny mint luster. The 1912 is about average in terms of overall rarity in this series, with approximately 6,000 estimated survivors from the mintage of 1.55 million coins. However, it becomes incredibly rare in Gem condition, with only perhaps 100 coins known. In fact, it is the second rarest Philadelphia Mint half dollar issue of the 1906 to 1915 era at this level, behind only the 1914 with a mintage of 124,230. A fleeting bidding opportunity for the astute numismatist. PCGS Population: 3; 3 finer (all MS-66+). CAC Population: 4; 0. PCGS# 6524. NGC ID: 24NG. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
