1842-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 7-E. Small Date, Small Letters. AU-50 (PCGS). CAC. A richly colored example featuring a bold blend of deep honey and rose-gold shades. Striking detail is pleasingly sharp by Dahlonega Mint standards, a feature that is easily appreciated due to there being no significant wear. With plenty of luster remaining this coin is sure to have great appeal for advanced Southern gold enthusiasts. The 1842-D Small Date, Small Letters is a conditionally challenging half eagle with most survivors well worn and grading no higher than EF-40.
