- This curious Indian cent variety features the base of an errant numeral 1 protruding from the Liberty's neck just above the pearls in the necklace. The discovery of this variety is attributed to dealer Jack Beymer according to the Snow reference, where the following is noted:<p><em>It was assumed early on that this variety would be found in high grades due to the general availability of this date. It is very surprising that only a few Mint State examples have come to light and none in gem full red condition.</em><p>This is a handsome Choice specimen with subtle rose-red mint color remaining on otherwise richly toned tobacco-brown surfaces.
