1771 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 3-71B, W-7680. Rarity-5. GEORGIVS III, Group I. VF-30 (PCGS). 124.4 grains. Late die state with the cud at 11 o'clock on the reverse rim. A pleasing chocolate-brown piece, the surfaces glossy and original with just some scattered light nicks and scratches but no roughness. The strike was well balanced and solid definition remains even after a moderate level of circulation. Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Earlier ex Christopher B. Young, April 2014.
